Trans Iraq : Who We Are

At Trans Iraq, our goal is to be the No. 1 distributor of food and consumer goods in Iraq. Trans Iraq was established as an off-shoot of the sales and marketing department of Al-Tariq Foods (Est. 1995). From 1995 to the present, we have been able to take the HELLO brand to the No. 1 position in the low-medium income sector of the Iraqi market.

Our success in marketing and distribution can be seen on the country’s supermarket shelves across Iraq.

Trans Iraq is part of the Bahrani Group - a diversified business group with several companies owned both collectively and individually by various members of the Bahrani family. The Group itself dates back to 1925, and encompasses several food industry enterprises covering a range of agribusiness sectors including food processing, dairy, poultry, egg-production, packaging, trading, sales, and distribution.

All of our companies that are situated outside Iraq are ISO 9001-2000 certified (there is no ISO-certification within Iraq at this time). In addition, Gulf Food Products, Jordan, is HACCP certified and has USFDA approval for its exports to the USA. It exports to 12 countries worldwide.

The Iraqi Market

As a result of the opening up of the Iraqi market after the 2^nd Gulf War, a wide range of food and consumer products from all over the world have entered the country, and the market in Iraq has started to change. 30 million Iraqi consumers now have more disposable income and are increasingly interested in trying new products that they were not accustomed to before.

The size of the Iraqi market is increasing, and the shape of the market itself is changing - becoming more segmented both geographically, and economically. These changes are creating new opportunities for both multinational established brands, as well as regional and newer local brands.

Our goal is to develop Trans Iraq and the brands it represents to penetrate and build market share in this growing and changing market. We believe it is now a critical time to do this, and we have the local experience and administrative structures necessary to provide the strong service and support necessary for our suppliers and customers to succeed.

Nationwide Distribution Structure

The organizational and administrative structure at Trans Iraq is designed to give dedicated attention to each one of the brands and products that we handle.

Trans Iraq has a nation-wide distribution network with 4 key cities: Baghdad, Erbil, and Basra. Our main stores are in Baghdad, but we have satellite warehouses in Basra in the South, satellite warehouse in Kerbala and satellite warehouse Erbil in the Kurdish North.

Most of the goods we distribute are imported to Iraq via Jordan, but we also import via Kuwait depending on shipping costs. We are able to handle all shipping and customs clearance for goods coming from both Kuwait and Jordan through our offices in Amman, Jordan, and Basra, Iraq.
