High current plants and supplies for electrolysis and arc furnaces:

We supply large DC converters for steel melting furnaces (EAF). For the chemical industry and different electrolysis plants we design water cooled rectifiers and transformers. The plants will be laid out according to the local requirements. We can supply rectifiers up to 1200 V and 40 kA in B6 connection or approx. 300 V and 60 kA with interphase transformers.. According to the requirements we can supply rectfiers with thyristors or diodes.

Drives for conveyor belts

The advantages of a conveyor belt with speed control::

*Instead of slipring motors, squirrel cage motors should be used
*The resistance controller in the rotor circuit may be omitted
*A complete reserve drive for revision purposes can be omitted
*A lower, more economic belt configuration can be selected
*The losses are considerably lower
*The maintenance cost can be reduced, lesser failure and breakdown times
*Roller, belt and gear are subject to lower wear rate
If existing conveyor belts are equipped with speed controls and the slipring motor shall be retained, we can offer an electronic speed control with a subsynchronous thyristorized cascade (USK)..

Thyristor Power Rack for 33 kV

We can offer thyristor controlled reactors (TCR) for reactive power control with digital controls in order to optimize the reactive power flow into the feeder. The according AEG products are called Semivar and Megasemi. For TCR equipment in operation we can supply new digital controls, consisting of an electronic card within the high voltage power rack and a control cubicle. The connection between the power rack of the TCR and the control cubicle is effected by light transmissions which fully insulate the control

Converters
We can supply converters for 50 cycle grids, which can create a new grid of 60 cycles, 3-phase or 16 2/3 cycle simple phase. The device with two synchronous machines shown below has an output of 100 kVA. It is used by a German machine supplier
to adapt and test their products to suit the local conditions of 60 cycle grids. The frequency tolerance is +/- 1%.

Since the foundation in 1887, AEG has built many power plants worldwide, driven by water, gas, coal or nuclear. In the year 1969, AEG and Siemens merged their power plant activities and founded KWU. Synchronous generators driven by Diesel-motors, steam, gas or hydro turbines, for continuous duty in power stations, as emergency-, or no-break power systems We deliver alternators with voltages up to 15kV, up to 55MVA at 1500 rpm

Sets with medium-speed and low-speed gas or diesel engines for heavy oil or mixed oil operation up to 8.000kVA, each on a welded steel base frame and under final quality inspection.

For control and surveillance we make use of our AEG Transinaut technology. Transinaut is a fully digital, programmable control with integrated protection for Diesel generators as well as gas motor/generator sets. Our Transinaut is is giving service in many plants for years, such as:

*Emergency motor/generator sets

The generator is assembled with a gear and is delivered as one unit. This low-priced and well-engineered 4-pole generators can be run at 1500 rpm at 50 Hz with turbines up to 15 000 rpm.

The flanged-on epicyclical gear only has minor loss and a long running life. Alternator and gear are a complete mounting unit for ready erection. This system is called E-Pack.

The system is available in all common types of protection and cooling.

We supply new industrial turbines, also as turbo genset up to 50 MVA. For large gas turbine power plants of 100-450 MVA we supply start-up inverters ( LCI ) and static thyristor exciters in compact cabinets. This equipment is also suitable for large hydro power plants. Our reference list contains contains several hundred units of this kind of equipment through the last decades.

Contactors

Modern coaches and railways are heated, climatised and supplied with fans electrically. For thermostatic controls the heating circuits are, according to the heating system, protected by contactors with different switching frequency. Our gear of the series TS 1000 are semiconductor contactors adequate for more than 10 million operations.
